HD Revanna, a prominent leader from the JD(S) party and son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 4. He spent three days in custody. He is accused of involvement in the kidnapping of a sexual assault survivor, allegedly connected to his son Prajwal Revanna. There are claims that he’s involved in scandalous “sex videos.” Additionally, a woman who used to work as a house helper at his place has accused him of harassing her. As a result, the police in Karnataka have started investigating him. Revanna says the videos going around are fake. He filed a complaint on April 28th, saying that these videos are edited to make him look bad. He believes it’s a dirty tactic to ruin his reputation and influence how people vote.

A special court in Bengaluru granted bail on Monday 13 May 2024 to HD Revanna, as he was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a rape survivor from her home in KR Nagar. The court instructed Revanna to provide two sureties along with a ₹5 lakh bond. Additionally, he was ordered to cooperate with the investigation team and not interfere with the probe. The court heard arguments from both the prosecution and Revanna’s counsel before reaching this decision.
